Overall Condition Fair. Most of our pieces have spent decades on at least two continents, and have been treasured by several owners.   Small splits, scrapes and cracks are a normal part of their patina attesting to their age and extensive use.  We examine each piece carefully when we receive it and report any damage we find in our listings.  Please look carefully at the pictures which may also reveal condition and damage.

Additional Information: A superb tall  Namchi (namji) beaded doll . The head shows a front-to-back haircrest  and eyes encrusted with beads. Other details include  a finial long nose and small open mouth . This doll is 41 inches H., which is a rare size on Namji doll!

Among the Namchi people of Cameroon, unadorned dolls made by blacksmiths are played with by young children. When beads, bells, coins, and other ornaments are added, however, the doll becomes a surrogate baby for a womanwho ius having difficulty getting pregnant. The woman treats the figure like a baby, feeding it and carrying it on her back.
