Additional information: Many iron, brass, bronze, or copper alloy bracelets, manillas, torques, figures and animal skulls have been found in Nigeria and surrounding areas. In the past these have generally been attributed to the “Lower Niger Bronze Industry,” an appellation coined by W. Fagg (1963). Bracelet forms such as this one preceded European contact. Such bracelets are still worn today and can be seen on shrines as memorial objects.
