A pair of manual card cotton. The board and the handle are made out of wood. The board is covered with a cotton cloth attached to the board with nails and studs. The cotton cloth is covered with wires. In the back of each card there is an incised icon with the inscription"CARD COTTON". And the tag says made in Nigeria without any other explanation. Such tools were used for carding cotton. Carding is a process by which fibers are opened, cleaned, and straightened in preparation for spinning. Such cards were still in use until recently. The offered pair was extensively used and has some age.
