We do not recommend laundering textiles, and do not accept returns of textiles which have been laundered in any manner.  Even dry cleaning is too much for some of these antique textiles.  For some of them, a very gentle HAND washing  (NEVER MACHINE, on any setting)  in cool water with a very gentle detergent works, but even then, dyes may not be colorfast, and fabric may be less strong than it appears.

Addition Information: A gorgeous cotton textile with floral and abstract embroidered design patterns. This textile in green background has finial yellow, blue, and red designs beautifully embroidered. The borders are finished with fringe designs.

This textile is probably from from the Northwestern India, a region well-known for its long tradition of embroidered textiles in that  the textile occupies a central point in the live and culture of this region. Each type of textiles and each motif on a textile have a meaning and are used not only as artistic language but also as identification of the status of the wearer.

Such cloths were used  as tapestry or wall-hanging to decorate the interior of houses and the tent dwellings. Today, such textiles an still be used as wall-hangings or covers for  furniture. In the past elaborate textiles such as this were used in the wedding ceremonies as gifts to the ride and groom.

This cloth is clean and in excellent condition. It can still be used as a Tablecloth or a decorative wall hanging.
