Description
The Kagera region, situated to the west of Lake Victoria, was one of the final areas in Tanzania to witness the exploration of traditional masks and sculptures. Even though a few masks had been gathered in the early twentieth century, those from the Ziba or Haya people only made a relatively late appearance in the African market. The Ziba masks are associated with one of the nine kingdoms in the Kagera region.
