Traditionally, women wore a beaded apron in the front which would tell something about her marital status. (MArried? Second wife? Bride?)  A heavy blanket ws worn in all weather, and brass rings elongated the neck over periods of years.  Beaded circlets were worn on arms and feet for ceremonial occasions.

Back aprons such as this were worn for special occasions.  In more recent years, most Ndebele traditional women have plastic velcroed rings to go around their neck which are only worn for ceremonial occasions.
